"9-11" - A Nation Calls for Help
The Oxnard Journal wishes to sent it's heart-felt feelings of sorrow and unhappiness at the events of the day.
The Oxnard Journal will - out of respect for the Nation - Discontinue it's usual coverage of Local News for the next few days. In respect of this day's events many local businesses were closed. Many businesses had headquarters in the WTC in New York. Financial Markets will be closed because of the Proximity of Wall Street to the WTC towers.
The Two Local Naval Bases were secured and access was restrticted as Condition DELTA was set. Condition DELTA, the highest State of Readiness, was set due to the attack on the Pentagon. It is not sure how events will affect the return of the Main Body of NMCB-40 from their European Deployment, nor are we sure how the Main Body of NMCB-3 will be deployed. Advance Parties from both battalions switched.
We, here in Southern California, are impacted by the loss of lives on the three flights inbound to LAX and the one Flight due for San Francisco.
Local Federal Offices were closed today and personnel sent home. It's not sure if offices will re-open tomorrow. Essential Personnel at the LA Federal Courts will report, but services such as IRS, Social Security, and National Parks may be curtailed for an additional day.
The best thing you can do now is to Give Blood at the Eastman/Market Street United Blood Services Office and/or send money to the Red Cross - you can use your Credit Card and help via the internet.
Several Local Churches were open today for Prayer - Some were not. Shame on those Churches who were not open for people to come and pray. We Must Make this A Week of Prayer. If you believe in God and have a faith in the Lord, now is the time to reach people. It may seem darkest at this hour, and those without God need you now the most.
