march through Colonia is being organized by Saul Medina, more information

OXNARD POLICE DEPARTMENT
- Day Labor/Farmworker Community Information Distribution March 1,
2005. Meet at 4:30 am at the Colonia Police storefront, corner of
Grant/Cooper Road. Any information to be distributed must reach the Police
storefront by 12:00 noon on the Monday prior to distribution of materials.
Police Chief Art Lopez is retiring as Oxnard’s Police Chief February 5.

Ormand Beach & Wetlands preservation is one of this group's major goals
and concerns of this group. Also educating the community about the dangers

CCR Commission on Community
Relations: City of Oxnard. Bobbi Micali 986-1270 meets monthly. Meetings
are televised. Good place to make public service announcements.

CED has formed collaboration with Affinity Bank. He reported about free
education programs on home ownership; he spoke about loan program 5.95%
interest, 30-year fix; funding has been made available through foundations
to assist families with special funds for second mortgages, and in some
cases down payment assistance programs. The public needs to be aware of
the predatory lenders to avoid foreclosures of homes. New workshops are
being held at the Rain Project, Salvation Army and Casa Merced.
Prototypes – Pilar Santamaria, 382-6296, recovery
and treatment programs for women and their children. Women are referred to
other program by their families, other social service agencies, and by the
courts. Women may also refer themselves. Founded in 1986. In Ventura
County the center has operated since 1992. Client fees are determined on a
sliding scale.

Susan Becker. From the Ventura County, District Attorney's Office. Offers
Forensic interviews examinations and has an advocacy center for children
and adults who have been sexually assaulted or physically abused.
Day Laborer's
and Farm
workers' Project – March 1st meeting at the Colonia storefront at
4:30 am. Please let Susan Becker know if you have any information to
distribute. Bag stuffing on Monday at noon. Susan Becker (805) 339-2507
cell (805) 947-8158. First distribution for 2005 is March 1st.
Ventura County Homeless Program, Anna Chavez 987-8353. Regardless
of legal status, program assist persons build a life towards self
sufficiency, on an on going process, RAIN project in Camarillo has spaces
for 8 to 9 family members, one adult must be have the ability to work.
Ventura County Human Services 385-8669 Edwin Sabio, from
the Vanguard Office reported on going programs, public assistance for
food, medi-cal Programs, and other services. These program services are
available regardless of residency status. Note of Information the
agricultural and construction workers were lost employment during the
recent heavy rains.

Crime Victims ASSITANCE Program, Sandra Avila 654-3622, Offers the victims
of crime many free services; i.e. free domestic violence restraining order
workshops at the Hall of Justice Victim Services-Room 311, 800 South
Victoria Ventura Tuesdays & Thursdays at 8:30a.m. (English). For the
Spanish speaking public workshops on restraining orders are held Mondays
at 8:30 a.m.

Alvarado St, El Rio, topic is on Enhancing Collaboration: Increasing

Where has all the Land gone. It behooves you as concerned citizens to attend Planning Board Meetings to learn what new projects are forthcoming to the City Council. Planning Board meets on alternate Thursday evenings are all meeetings are open to the public. It greatly benefits you to attend as these planning meetings are where the plans are approved before going to the Council. Once the Council gets the plans presented, it is much more difficult to fight off or to object to the proposal.
