Communion Message --- 06 FEB 05
John 15 - 13Greater love
hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Acts 2 -
22Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus
of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders
and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves
also know:
23Him,
being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,
ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
JESUS OFFERED HIMSELF AS
OUR SACRIFICE AND WE REMEMBER THIS
EACH TIME WE PARTICIPATE
IN COMMUNION – WE REMEMBER THE BODY CHRIST --- AS SEEN IN THE
UN-LEAVENED BREAD THAT IS BROKEN AND TAKEN IN -----
WE SEE THE PRECIOUS
BLOOD, LIQUID AND FLUID AS SYMBOLIZED IN THE JUICE OF THE GRAPE ---
CRUSHED AND SQUEEZED FOR THE JUICE OF LIFE IT OFFERS.
THESE TWO ELEMENTS –
THE BREAD AND WINE --- REPRESENTED THE BASIC LIFE ELEMENTS OF THE TIME
JESUS WAS ON EARTH.
BREAD IN ALL CULTURES IS THE ONE ITEM THAT SEPARATES US FROM FAMINE
AND STARVATION --- FOR IT IS BREAD THAT WE SEEK TO FILL OUR SELVES….
SO IT IS WITH THIS BREAD OF LIFE – THAT WE AGAIN FILL OUR SPIRIT-MAN.
THE WINE, FRUIT OF THE
VINE -- BROUGHT REFRESHMENT AND JOY TO THE PEOPLES OF JESUS’ TIME.
JESUS USED THE SIMPLE
ELEMENTS OF DAILY LIFE TO REVEAL HIMSELF.
THE WRITERS OF THE NEW
TESTAMENT – USED COMMON KOINE GREEK TO WRITE THE WORDS THAT WOULD
FOREVER CHANGE THIS WORLD.
GOD USES THE COMMON IN
OUR LIVES TO REVEAL HIS GREATNESS.
THE HIGH AND COMPLEX
PEOPLE ONLY BAFFLE AND CONFUSE AS THEY TRY TO WEAVE A MESSAGE FILLED
WITH THEIR OWN CONCEPTS AND CRAZED IDEAS……GOD USES HIS ONLY SON, A
LOAF OF BREAD AND A CHALICE OF WINE TO REVEAL HIS GLORIOUS PLAN OF
SALVATION.
And as they were
eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to
the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
And he took the cup,
and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
For this is my blood
of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of
sins.
But I say unto you, I
will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day
when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
