JONES REPLIES TO OXNARD
CITY MANAGER's ARTICLE IN THE STAR RE: THE 2 GOLF COURSE CONTRACTS
What the city manager does not tell
the citizens is the complete story.
e.g.., there is a 1.4 million dollar discrepancy between the
comprehensive annual report and
the alleged "clean" opinion.
That is only for the past year.
What of the prior ten years? And that is just for starters. Why hasn't
this "clean" opinion been delivered to the
taxpayers?
Through my own sources I obtained a copy of the "clean" audit and it
appears to me to be incomplete.
The document I received first went
through the hands of the city staff. e.g. the city manager and others.
Let us remember these are the same folks that "discovered" the golf
course contract that exonerates the staff and city council for the
incomplete audits of the past ten years. There are unaccounted for
millions of dollars. The taxpayers do not know where the money has gone
or for what.
"...a full and complete picture of golf course revenues, expenses and
internal controls."
wrote Edmund Sotelo.
At best this is wishful
thinking.
At worst this is deceit and a cover-up. The fact remains that the Ventura
County Grand Jury and the trial court in Los Angeles that heard the case
of Phil Molina were provided with a document (a golf course contract) that
was not the
official document that resided in the city clerks office.
The manner in which the City's finances have been handled is an indictment
on the city council. All of the city council. And yet two of those same
councilmen wish to be a supervisor of Ventura County.
They have grandiose visions of their abilities. They should be recalled,
not elected to a higher office.
At best they have the ability to lead a
dog to a tree.
