Dear Friends,
Today SB 426 "Informed Choices for LNG in CA" was killed
in committee. Clearly the big LNG companies know that their projects
cannot stand up to merit review. They also know that there is no proven
need to import LNG into California. The LNG companies have spent
millions of dollars promoting their projects and lobbying to kill this
bill. SB 426 would have required that all pending LNG proposals be
evaluated and ranked on public health and safety impacts, economic
viability, the environment and national security.
California has the technological expertise and ingenuity
to lead the nation to clean renewable energy and away from dirty fossil
fuel from foreign sources.
