TThe City Council RETREAT has Retreated and Now Do
Oxnard
Residents have to Retreat from its Council . . . Wait &
See.....Tuesday 25 Jan. promises to hold its fair share of fun
public comments....from Sunny Atkinson talking about another Peace
project to Ventura Fernandez telling the Council they have their heads
firmly inserted into their own ....well, you know where.... The Guest Column in the Sunday Star (1/23) by our Councilmember John C. Zaragoza. JCZ used his column inches to defend the City, the City Council, and most of all the City Manager. Zaragoza lambasted the Star for what he considered "one-sided" reporting by the Star's lead Oxnard Reporter, Raul Hernandez, who did his job by interviewing people for quotes and then reporting accurately what he heard. So it appears that, according to JCZ, nothing really happened on the Council. That all this fuss over College Park and the forced insertion of BIG LEAGUE DREAMS into the park without proper public awareness is really nothing. Nothing happened and Everything was above board in Oxnard Civic Government. Zaragoza was aiming his editorial towards the unwary and un-informed constituency that voted him into another term of office. Council-watchers surely dropped jaws when they read JCZ's editorial....it blatantly tried to whitewash the whole issue of the missing agreement and the not-seen payment checks amounting to 88-thousand dollars apparently drafted with ease by our top City Manager. While the City Council circles its wagons to safely protect its Staff and buy time to formulate reasons why what happened really didn't happen, and then repeat it loud and long enough so we, the people of Oxnard forget what really happened behind the closed doors of our civic government. Oxnard needs to get a clue and get informed. NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL PROGRAM The City Council wants to again muck around with the Neighborhood Council....as
it did in January of 2004 and again, the INCF is left in the dark as to
plans by the City Council. The Council used its Retreat as a
platform to express their interest in fostering public 'interest' and
awareness in Oxnard's Neighborhood Council program.
